Lagos- On Thursday, the Senate elongated the validity of JAMB UTME's result to three years.
Comedian Alibaba took to twitter to express his reservations on this decision. Here are four ‘tweets’ why he feels this new law is wrong
1. It does not solve the mediocrity caused by bad education policies and funding:
“Instead of admit they can't find solutions to mediocrity resulting from bad education policies & funding, they are extending JAMB results!!!”
2. 87% of the students who write JAMB are not prepared for University, and only read to pass, thereby shutting down their brains within the three years they wait for the admission from one result:
“87% of students who sit for jamb read to pass it. They are not prepared for university, now you are giving their brains 3 years to shut down”
3. This only further lowers the standard of education after the JAMB cut off marks were reduce to way below 200:
“Meanwhile, we had dropped standards by reducing jamb cut off marks, to way below 200. Other countries are raising standards we are lowering”
4. University strikes could would affect the validity of the admission and will lead to a longer wait for one to get admission:
“In the 3rd year of waiting for admission, if there is a strike, by the time school resumes it would have expired. Add number of new students”
