Black Friday takes an ugly turn in the US with another shooting

The annual Black Friday sales in the US have taken an ugly turn – with three people shot dead after tempers flared between shoppers. A Good Samaritan became the latest victim as he tried to break up a domestic violence incident outside a shopping centre in Texas. The unidentified man was sitting in his car when a gunman opened fire in the car park of a Walmart in San Antonio. 21-year-old Telles Juarez was allegedly grabbing a woman by the hair and punching her in his car when the onlooker shouted over from his vehicle to stop. Juarez is reported to have opened fire on the man, hitting him in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The gunman fired multiple shots – one of which struck a woman near the scene. She was taken to hospital with non- life threatening injuries. Jurarez attempted to flee the scene to evade police but a helicopter followed him for 15 miles before he was stopped and arrested. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus paid tribute to the hero Good Samaritan who was killed, saying: ‘You have to give credit to the man for being willing to intervene.’ The shooting in Texas wrapped up a day of tense scenes and violence across the US as shoppers almost went to war to grab a bargain. In New Jersey, 21-year-old Demond Cottman was shot multiple times as he waited outside a Macy’s store. And in Reno, Nevada, a 33-year-old man was shot in what is believed to be a road rage incident in a Walmart car park.
