The annual Black Friday sales in the US
have taken an ugly turn – with three
people shot dead after tempers flared
between shoppers.
A Good Samaritan became the latest
victim as he tried to break up a domestic
violence incident outside a shopping centre
in Texas.
The unidentified man was sitting in his car
when a gunman opened fire in the car park
of a Walmart in San Antonio.
21-year-old Telles Juarez was allegedly
grabbing a woman by the hair and
punching her in his car when the onlooker
shouted over from his vehicle to stop.
Juarez is reported to have opened fire on
the man, hitting him in the neck. He was
pronounced dead at the scene.
The gunman fired
multiple shots – one
of which struck a
woman near the
scene. She was taken
to hospital with non-
life threatening
injuries.
Jurarez attempted to flee the scene to
evade police but a helicopter followed him
for 15 miles before he was stopped and
arrested.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus
paid tribute to the hero Good Samaritan
who was killed, saying: ‘You have to give
credit to the man for being willing to
intervene.’
The shooting in Texas wrapped up a day
of tense scenes and violence across the
US as shoppers almost went to war to
grab a bargain.
In New Jersey, 21-year-old Demond
Cottman was shot multiple times as he
waited outside a Macy’s store.
And in Reno, Nevada, a 33-year-old man
was shot in what is believed to be a road
rage incident in a Walmart car park.
