The cold war between President Muhammadu Buhari and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress may have taken a new dimension.
The President is planning to replace Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate in the 2019 presidential election, reports The Point .
Tinubu was said to have singlehandedly nominated Osinbajo for the position of Vice President in 2015.
Buhari is said to be planning to replace Osinbajo with a politician from the South-east.
Buhari plans to woo a former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, as a possible replacement for Osinbajo.
It is rumoured that the recent defection of Kalu to the APC is a prelude to his nomination as Buhari’s running mate in 2019.
It was gathered that Buhari decided to take the step in order to win over the South- east and perhaps South-south blocs in the event that the South-west zone withdraws its support for him in 2019.
President Muhammadu Buhari had a few days ago confirmed that he will seek a second term in office during the 2019 presidential election.
Buhari;s confirmation came a day after a former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) member, Buba Galadima said Buhari would be abandoned by the people if he decides to contest in 2019.
