Breaking: ‘Unfreeze Fayose’s Accounts’ – Court Orders Zenith Bank

A Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital has ordered Zenith Bank to immediately unfreeze the Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose’s accounts.

In his ruling at a court sitting on Tuesday, Justice Taiwo Taiwo held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) did not follow the laid down regulations in ordering the bank to freeze the accounts,
It will be recalled that four bank accounts belonging to Fayose were frozen by the anti-graft agency in June over allegations of money laundering and illegal financing of his governorship election in 2014.
Fayose, through his counsel Mike Ozekhome (SAN) had filed an ex parte motion for the bank accounts to be unfrozen to no avail as the EFCC secured a proper court order for the freezing.
But in a ruling today, Justice Taiwo granted Fayose’s prayer declared the unfreezing of Fayose’s accounts.
