Child’s heartbreaking Christmas letter to dead father found attached to balloon

Christmas letter written by a child and
sent to his dead father has been found
attached to a deflated helium balloon.

In the emotional note the boy talked about
how he missed his father and explained he
had been taken into foster care because
    his mum was ill.
He added for Christmas he wanted a letter
from his dad who was ‘in heaven’.
He also wanted a few other football related
items, including a Real Madrid kit.

       CHILD'S CHRISTMAS LETTER IN Full
‘Hi dad, just writing you a letter to tell
you I’m missing you and tell you news.
‘I’m sure you know I’m in foster care
cause mum is sick and my ear is
    blocked from Monday. Tomorrow we’re
    leaving.
‘I really miss school and you. I know you
are up in heaven but are you safe?
‘Oh ya before I go here’s my dream and
xmas list. My dream is for you my daddy
to put a note under my pillow that you
    wrote.
    ‘My xmas list: boots/studs, astros,
rebounder net, new Premier League ball,
    Real Madrid kit.
    ‘Bye daddy I love you.’

Stuart McColl discovered the note (dated
December 1) in a field near Dunfermline,
Fife, and is now desperately looking for the
foster child so he can get them all the
    presents they asked for.
‘This was just too sad to ignore,’ said the
    30-year-old from Cupar, Fife.
‘I’ve never done anything like this before
but it’s a really tragic story so it would be
great to do something to help this person
who is having such a tough time.’
The photographer admitted it would be
difficult to track him down but hoped to
    help other children as well.
He added: ‘I really hope we can find the
child but even if we can’t, I’d like to set up
a charity page to buy presents for children
living in foster care this Christmas.’
Mr McCol has already shared the letter on
    social media and contacted foster
    agencies.
A number of people have offered to pay
    for the child’s presents.
