Javier Hernandez became Mexico’s joint
leading goalscorer of all-time on Friday as he
drew level with Jared Borgetti.
The former Manchester
United striker scored
the 46th goal of his
international career
during Mexico’s 2-0
World Cup qualification
win over Costa Rica.
Hernandez tied the
record on his 89th
appearance for his country, the same number
of games it took former Bolton striker
Borgetti to reach that milestone.
Hernandez scored 37 goals in 103 Premier
League appearances for Manchester United
before he was shipped out on loan to Real
Madird by Louis van Gaal two years ago.
Jose Mourinho recently admitted he would
never have allowed a player of Hernandez’s
ability to have left Old Trafford, a message the
28-year-old appeared endorse by liking
several posts on Twitter relating to the
Special One’s comments.
