The parents of an 11-year-old boy who
shot and killed an eight-year-old girl
because she wouldn’t show him her
puppies are being sued for £7.7million.
A wrongful death lawsuit argues that the
boy’s parents, Jason and Mary Ann Tiller,
had a duty to keep their son from harming
others with a firearm.
It has been filed on behalf of Latasha
Dyer, the girl’s mother, in Jefferson County
Circuit Court, Tennessee.

Makayla Dyer, eight, was playing outside
her home in White Pine – about 40 miles
east of Knoxville – in October last year.
The boy came up to
her and asked her to
get her puppies for
him to see.
When she refused, he
shot her dead.
The boy was found
guilty of first-degree murder in February,
and was sentenced to remain in state
custody until he turns 19.
