A wrongful death lawsuit argues that the boy’s parents, Jason and Mary Ann Tiller, had a duty to keep their son from harming others with a firearm. It has been filed on behalf of Latasha Dyer, the girl’s mother, in Jefferson County Circuit Court, Tennessee. The boy came up to her and asked her to get her puppies for him to see. When she refused, he shot her dead. The boy was found guilty of first-degree murder in February, and was sentenced to remain in state custody until he turns 19.
